Don't just buy a franchise.
Buy the right one.

Most people spend months researching franchises and still aren't sure they're making the right call. That's not a research problem — it's a guidance problem. With 20+ years of experience and a published book on franchise evaluation, I help executives, career changers, and investors cut through the noise and make a decision they'll stand behind.

Why Most Buyers Get It Wrong

There are over 3,000 franchise options. Most people evaluate the wrong ones.

A Lamborghini is a great car. But if it's your only car and you're shuttling four kids to soccer practice, it's not the right car for you. Franchises work the same way.

There are great franchises. And there are great franchises for you — given your capital, your timeline, your operating style, and what you want your day-to-day life to look like in five years. Those are different lists. Most buyers spend months on the first list and never build the second one.

A lot of people I talk to right now are also looking at a bigger question: AI is reshaping entire industries, and a lot of corporate roles won't look the same in three to five years. Franchise ownership is one answer to that uncertainty — not for everyone, but for some people it's exactly the right move at exactly the right time.

That's what the process is for.

"Don't just buy a franchise. Buy the right franchise. The difference starts with understanding what you actually need — before you walk into a discovery day."

How I Work

A structured process. No pressure. No shortcuts.

Franchise evaluation has an actual methodology. Here's how we work through it together.

Step 01

Figure out your destination first.

Seneca said: "If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable." Before we look at a single franchise, we figure out your goals, your capital, your timeline, and what success actually looks like for you. The right franchise follows from that — not the other way around.

Step 02

Evaluate fit — not just quality.

I introduce you to franchises that match your profile. We go through the FDD, review Item 19 financial disclosures, and conduct validation calls with existing owners. The question at every step: are the most successful owners in this system people like you? If yes, that's a signal. If not, we keep looking.

Step 03

Make the call — buy or don't.

If the fit is right, I connect you with franchise attorneys and lenders who know this space. If it's not right — or if the timing is off — I'll tell you that. Some of my best outcomes are clients who decided not to buy. The goal is a decision you'll stand behind, not a transaction.

About Mike

20+ years of experience. One book. He's been on both sides of the table.

Before I became a franchise consultant, I owned one. I know what the process looks like from the buyer's seat — the excitement, the overwhelm, the moment of panic right before you write the check. If you're feeling it, you're normal. Almost everyone does.

I wrote The Franchise Rules because I kept having the same conversations with clients — smart, capable people who were about to sign the wrong thing because nobody had helped them ask the right questions first. The book is the guide I wish every client had before our first call.

The consultation is free. The advice is direct. You're on your own — but you don't have to do this alone.
